“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action becomes reality.”

Happy New Years my beautiful friends! I can’t believe it’s already 2019.. did last year go super fast for everyone else?!

I LOVE setting goals, starting fresh, and reevaluating where I’m at in life. January is my favorite time of year, hands down. I always feel so inspired and motivated.

I know many people don’t feel that way though, and it’s usually because they’ve grown cynical about their own dreams and goals. They don’t bother setting goals because they know they’ll never reach them or if they do write some down, it gets put on the back burner when life gets in the way. This usually happens because people don’t set themselves up for success, go into it with the wrong mindset, and set the wrong kind of goals.

What works for me is to write down about 10-12 goals and then only focus on one or two at a time (usually per month). This keeps me from being overwhelmed and gives me time to create a habit out of my goal! It’s also super important to have the right mindset. Most people give up when life gets in the way or they mess up one day and then fall off track because in their mind, it’s too late. Instead, it’s better if you go into it completely acknowledging and accepting that you WILL fail and have bad days! But the point of goals isn’t to be perfect, it’s to improve. So if you set a goal and only do it 80% of the time, well then you’ve done it 80% more than you would’ve if you never set the goal! And that’s what true success is.

I thought I’d go ahead and share some of my own new years resolutions just to put it out into the universe and maybe inspire you to write some of your own! It’s so fun to look at them at the end of the year and see what you’ve accomplished. Again, it’s not about nailing everything down perfectly but rather seeing how much you can actually get done and achieve. Sometimes your goals change too, and that’s okay! I feel like having an overall direction in life builds my confidence and helps me focus on what’s important.

Here are my 10 new years resolutions for 2019 (in no particular order):

  1. Start our family! I am really crossing my fingers to get pregnant this year and start building our life and work around having children. I’ve taken a huge workload off these last few months and have settled things down a bit so we can better prepare. Here’s hoping it comes true!

  2. Simplify, automate, and streamline our business. I want to work smarter, not harder. I really want to improve our business by focusing on a few simple products and making them awesome. We also want to improve our automation, hire an assistant, and get into a better workflow together.

  3. Start our swimsuit company! After some big bumps in the road, we are restarting our swimwear line and making it our own. I’m really excited for the things to come!

  4. Be a pro at meal planning. I started getting into the habit of meal prepping this last year, but I want to be more consistent and even better at it. We save SO much money and eat way healthier when stuff is planned out and we stick to a food schedule. I’ll be sharing how we do this on Youtube in the near future so keep your eyes peeled!

  5. Speaking of Youtube, I want to go all in this year. I’ve been really fascinated by vlogs and creating videos and it’s something I want to get into because I find it really fun! I’m not the most talented videographer and talking to a camera still makes me nervous, but I think Youtube is such a fun platform and I want to grow our business and document our life a bit more.

  6. Consistently go to the gym. I’m going to suck it up and shell out the money for a gym membership on the north shore (it’s pretty expensive) because I’ve learned that I just do my best in a gym environment and have way more motivation than when I try to workout at home. So my overall goal is to consistently go 5 times a week and do what I love! I’ve really gotten interested in fitness and weightlifting this last year so I want to become more educated, push myself, and stick to a routine.

  7. Do yoga every day. I’ve always loved yoga but to be honest I’m not the most talented or flexible yogi. I discovered the Down Dog app earlier this year and it’s been a dream to use! I’ve been inconsistently using it but I want to take it more seriously and make a routine out of it, even if I only do 10 minutes. I always feel so much better after a little yoga sesh!

  8. Improve and refine the relationships that are important to me. I’m naturally a people pleaser, but it usually leaves me stretched too thin and neglecting the people who really matter (even Bryant sometimes!). This year I want to narrow who I spend my time with, get really good at spending time and loving on family, and intentionally setting apart non-work time to be with Bryant and strengthen our marriage. Being popular just isn’t that important to me and I’m done saying yes to everything!

  9. Serve on a weekly basis. Bryant and I live very close to a beach park filled with homeless families and individuals. We’ve fed them a bit in the past, but I want to do more. We are hoping to spend our time on Sundays serving, loving, and listening to them as we learn how to better understand what they need and then help fulfill that need. In addition to this, I want to freely give of our time and money to help those in need. I’m hoping to find an organization that we can be really passionate about and promote on our platforms!

  10. Get better sleep. This might seem super silly but I am a lifelong insomniac! My mom even says I never slept as a child. These days if I’m really good about a night time routine I sleep so much better, wake up refreshed, am more productive, have more time in the day, and spend less time being lazy. I just overall feel so much healthier and better about myself when my sleep is on point! I’ve fallen off track in the past so I want to get back on it. So this resolution involves a night time routine, going to bed early, and waking up early.

There you have it! My 2019 resolutions! It’s funny, I think I’m becoming a boring adult because my goals pretty much involve slow and quiet living. My resolutions in the past usually revolved around crazy travel or giant business goals so it feels good to approach 2019 a little calmer than before.
