Making homemade pasta in the Tuscan Countryside!

We are still LOVING Italy. The highlight of our trip so far has been learning how to make pasta from scratch in the kitchen of a restored farm house out in the countryside of Tuscany. We took a train and traveled all the way to Florence where we were greeted and driven to the most beautiful little village! We really wanted to try an Italian cooking class so we booked our experience through Airbnb experiences and it was by far the best thing we've done.

Susanna is the cutest Italian lady who taught us how to make Tiramisu (a coffee flavored dessert), hand cut pasta with pesto sauce (soooo much garlic and parmesan...mmm), and a dish that resembles what you'd think of spaghetti but was FAR from it. The noodles were made with a hand crank and the sauce was made of deep red tomatoes from their garden, a small purple onion, locally cured sausage, sheep's cheese, and olive oil made from their own trees. It was spicy and delicious - unlike anything I've ever eaten before!

We spent the morning chopping the ingredients, kneading the dough, and cooking the pasta. They served us out on their patio that overlooked vineyards and old church buildings. There were blooming flowers everywhere! 

If you are traveling through Italy then I HIGHLY recommend taking a cooking class! It was just such an incredible experience I feel like I need to share it with the world.
