Once in a while your feet touch down in a place and you instantly feel home. The sights, the sound, the people. For some reason, they all feel familiar to you. You feel free and happy and like yourself.
That’s how Jordan made me feel.
Somehow I felt home in a country completely on the other side of the planet. A country opposite of my own, yet I totally fell in love with.
The people are some of the kindest you will ever meet, the scenery is surreal (and sometimes surprising, like the beautiful Red Sea!), and I could eat the food forever!
No words can do justice to how incredible Jordan was to me! So I’ll just share the best way I know how: through photos and stories. I hope you can feel like you’re there with me while you read. I truly believe hearts can soften and minds can open through stories. I know the middle east can seem like a scary place, but I had the opposite experience. I hope you enjoy reading my experience!
Special thanks to Visit Jordan for bringing me out there! I feel so grateful and lucky. Also thanks to @jameslloydcole for the images taken of me and @letsexplore.co for choosing me to come along.
“We fear what we don’t know, and fear makes us irrational. I’m not even going to lie, there was a little part of me that felt nervous about coming to the Middle East. You hear so much on the news and opinions are strong on all sides of the earth. I won’t deny that there are some crazy terrible things happening in the world, but this land has more to offer than what we think. I have felt nothing but pure love and open arms since day one. And I feel like it’s important to let you all know that what we hear about a place isn’t always true. We have to remember that we are all human, and I hope we can decide today to always choose love and kindness over fear. In a short amount of time my heart has been changed more than I thought it could.”
If you ever get the chance to go to Jordan… DO IT. Go with an open heart. You might just fall in love.
